Medicare Rebate

 

 
 

The Medicare system can provide a rebate for counselling to individuals who are eligible. An assessment (needs a longer visit time) and referral is required from a GP under the Better Access Mental Health Treatment Plan. This offers a partial rebate of around $70.00 plus per session...irrespective of the session length.

 

The Medicare Safety Net is also available to all Medicare Card holders for help with health expenses; All out of pocket medical expenses (ie over the Medicare rebate) accumulates until the total reaches the threshold. Once you go over the threshold you get 80% of the out of pocket expenses as well as the medicare benefit back.
