The most distructive issue for relationships is disconnection. Once a couple becomes disconnected there is generally a lack of intimacy. Without really good communication skills, this situation is likely to get worse. 

 

These 3 passion killers are the top of our list of things that create disconnection. For a great relationship you need good communication. Communication is about being connected and this requires trust, closeness and intimacy.

Number 1 Passion Killer.  

The king size bed...

This is without doubt a major factor. In fact our recent research shows this is a significant problem. The evidence shows that not all couples with a king size bed are disconnected...but ALL couples who are disconnected have a king size bed.

 

So the message is...Don't get a king size bed. It seems that it is only a matter of time until you too will become disconnected as a couple. There is simply too much real estate and therefore it is too easy to become physically distant.

 

You subtly lose a constant and important opportunity to connect. Touching so really important to create a feeling of closeness. It conveys love without words.

Do not have a TV in the bedroom...

No D and M's in bed...

There is no place for having a deep and meaningful chat, about what's bothering you, when you get into bed.  The bedroom should be reserved for Rest & Recreation only. It must be a safe place for both people, so quarantine it from a big discussion and a possible or impending argument.

 

If the bedroom becomes yet another war zone, you or your partner will eventually end up avoiding the bedroom until the other is asleep. The disconect is obvious when it happens but the journey to get there is subtle and created over several years.

 

You will not see the warning signs until it is late in the destruction. So take this as your 'notice' and keep the big discussions out of the bedroom.
